On the surface, Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco is far from the nonconformist mecca it was in its heyday. Down Haight is a bastion of ultracool retail, and up Ashbury is one $1m+ home after another. But underneath, Haight still retains its core values. Latest evidence: this picture of the Kid Robot store on Haight near Ashbury. My wife took it December 11 and it was the first thing that put a holiday smile on my face this year.
