Tonight’s Friday Funk installment is The Little Rasti, an 18 minute funky opus to honor trumpet legend Donald Byrd who died this week at 80. I got the news from Oliver Wang’s Soulsides blog. I was lucky enough to take one of Wang’s music writing classes years ago, and his skills make him one of the most influential music journalists out there. So I’ll shut up now and let you listen to Byrd and read Wang’s tribute to him…
